"Blood Country"

Some say place, it doesn’t matter,

Life’s not where you are,

But the father of the faithful,

Was called to travel far,

To a place of God’s own choosing,

A promised, blessed land,

God would lead him to it,

And there he’d take his stand.

He went out without knowing,

And where he could not say,

But he lived by faith and going,

‘Cause God would show the way.

Sometimes I think the yearning,

We have to find our place,

Is something that’s God-given,

And He will grant our space.

He leads to our blood country,

The land to which we’re kin,

And when we arrive there,

He’s shows us we are in.

Says this is just where you belong,

And here send down your roots,

Here you will find favor,

From your hat down to your boots.

It’s a place of peace and kindness,

That you share with your tribe,

And when you finally get there,

It’s too good to describe.

So if you’re still a searching,

Don’t give up ‘fore you’re through,

“Cause just like Father Abraham,

Your blood country will come true.

“He went without knowing where he was going…” (Hebrews 11:8, NLT)

It is astounding that our spiritual father, Abraham, was willing to obey the Lord the way he did. He was called by God to the land of promise, but there was no way he could know where it was or how to get there. What did he do? Did he wait for better timing or what some might consider a more definite direction? No, but Abraham did decide to follow God’s leading. He was led by God into the land of promise, but even better, he was given eternal life by the Creator. And in an ultimate sense, this is what home is all about. Come home.

Lord, help us to follow Your leading, and trust You with the destination, in Jesus’ name.
