"Changes"

Changes come, they’re never done,

And some of them are so much fun,

But every now and then there’s one,

That really takes the cake.

Changing from a single man,

To marry, yes, it was God’s plan,

And then to move to Texas grand,

More country than a state.

To cowboy up and all the time,

To know that things will work out fine,

All dallied tight with God’s catch twine,

And it’s the Lord, not fate.

And in the past when I complained,

‘Bout troubles and my hope had waned,

Faith now sees God’s plan contained,

Blessings worth the wait.

So if you’re tired and feeling blue,

I hope these words encourage you,

Don’t always know what God will do,

His love for you is great.

Don’t give up, you never know,

The changes for you might soon show,

And with them all the grace to go,

So look to Him with faith.

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen…” (2 Corinthians 4:18, NLT)

You don’t have to look far to see trouble. It’s always there, it seems. Sometimes it’s our trouble and sometimes it’s theirs. There will always be something negative, burdensome and stressful. It’s just part of life. But Paul says that is not where he puts his focus. He redirects His attention to what can’t be physically seen, but is more real than that. He sees the eternal by faith, and for that reason, throws off discouragement and despair. And this is the answer for every trouble we face. It’s all about giving it to Jesus and seeing things from God’s perspective. Things that otherwise would be a big deal become insignificant compared to God’s power and plan. Don’t be surprised if He surprises you!

Lord, surprise us with Your grace to deal with all the trouble we face, in Jesus’ name.
