"Choice"
Sometimes there is a choice to make,
And you cannot delay,
You’d rather just procrastinate,
But that is not okay.
And that’s because the waiting,
Or putting something off,
Is long past time and over,
Can’t let yourself go soft.
No, time to be decisive,
Is something that’s required,
One of life’s strong lessons,
Though we are sad and tired.
But what if then deciding,
You still don’t get it right,
Don’t make the right decision,
And you get all uptight.
I suggest it’s better,
To go ahead and shoot,
‘Cause if you don’t first hit it,
There’s a second time to boot.
And if there’s no specific,
Instruction that you hear,
Find something in the Good Book,
Just try and do not fear.
God can still direct you,
But move and He will bless,
He can course-correct you,
Even if you’ve made a mess.
Just say, Lord, you see me choosing,
And I pray that I choose right,
But I know You have the answers,
Help me walk into the light.
I choose, I am not waiting,
I choose, I walk by faith,
I choose, I know You’ll lead me,
I will not procrastinate.
“…now is the day of salvation…” (2 Cor. 6:2, NKJV)
Today is a gift and it’s all we have. Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow’s not here. That’s why procrastination is so dangerous. You can put things off so long that it becomes an unhealthy habit. There is a presumption that there will always be time, but that is simply not true. This applies to everything that matters. Salvation most of all. But in this verse salvation is not just about the day that you accept Jesus for the first time. It’s about your acceptance of Jesus on a daily basis. It’s being saved as an event and being saved as you go in your daily experience. In either case it needs to happen now, not put off till tomorrow. Choose, and choose today.
Lord, help us never procrastinate what You are calling us to do right now, in Jesus’ name.
