"Christmas Baby"
It always was a baby,
In God’s own master plan,
No if, ands, buts or maybe,
When He stretched forth His hand,
He said the woman’s offspring
Would crush the serpent’s head,
Though he would be snake bit,
On the heel, it’s what God said.
And God renewed the promise,
When He spared one family,
While all the others washed away,
The rainbow all could see.
The Lord spoke to Abram,
Said children like the stars,
As many as the grains of sand,
Unborn nations, kings afar.
And this when it was too late,
But not too late, you see,
Abraham and Sarah,
In old age Isaac came to be.
And then a son of Isaac,
Some generations went,
From the tribe of Judah,
To the house of Jesse sent,
The prophet they called Samuel,
There to choose a king
The youngest son named David,
The one with psalms to sing.
And the Good Lord said to David,
One day your son will reign,
Forever on My kingdom throne,
And He will bear My name.
But David later stumbled,
His children fought and died,
And then with another’s wife,
He sinned and killed and lied.
The first child that Bathsheba had,
Died a few days old,
But then she had a second one,
Then redemption’s story told,
That this child they named Solomon,
Would carry on the line,
Of God’s Messiah promise,
And when God said it’s time,
For Jesus, born of Mary,
To come down to this earth,
Born a son of David,
And even from his birth,
People came to worship,
To crown a baby king,
And that is why at Christmas,
His praises we will sing.
It always was a baby,
In God’s own master plan,
And God sent Him to save me,
By grace through faith He can.
“She gave birth to her firstborn son…” (Luke 2:7, NLT)
Jesus was the firstborn baby to His mother, Mary. He is also described as the “only begotten Son” of the Father, and the first to enter death and conquer it through His resurrection. All the prophecies through all the centuries came down to the moment of God’s promised entry into the world, through the womb of a woman with no help from a man! And in a true sense, God entered the world when Mary miraculously conceived. God actually began His earthly incarnation as a fertilized cell. Think of it! The grandeur of the Creator contained in a microscopic cell…That cell became a fetus, a baby, a child, a man and ultimately the Savior of the whole world. The miracle and mystery of Christmas should fill our hearts with awe and thanksgiving.
Lord, fill our hearts with the wonder of Christmas, in Jesus’ name.
