"Cowboy Connect"
I don’t know if you realize,
What’s happening right here,
But if you don’t I’m hoping,
That I can make it clear.
That this whole cowboy church thing,
is really nothing new,
It’s just about connecting,
With people it is true,
Paul said he would be like them,
No matter who they were,
So he could share the message,
In ways he could be heard.
And people love a cowboy,
And that old cowboy way,
They may not be near it,
But in their hearts they say,
They want something that’s simple,
A back to basics plan,
That emphasizes faith in God,
And closeness to the land.
Caring for the livestock,
Teaches lessons well,
That steward our best blessings,
And to our children tell,
The right from wrong behavior,
And trusting in the light,
Learning mercy and forgiveness,
And knowing when to fight.
We share food at the table,
And music that uplifts,
For those who have nobody,
And hurting from life’s sifts.
And everyone is welcome,
There’s no formality,
People do not judge you wrong,
Just happy you can be,
There to hear the message,
A cowboy hat you’ll see,
But there’s no need to ride the range,
And we pray you will see.
That every single body,
That you run into,
Gives a smile and welcome,
Though they may not know you.
But they’re all glad to see you,
And thankful that you came,
We pray you’ll come-back again,
And hear God call your name.
‘Cause it’s all about the Savior,
The One who sets us free,
Cowboy Church an instrument,
For love and liberty.
“Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some…” (1 Cor. 9:22, NLT)
Paul was willing to do whatever it took to connect with people so he could win them to Christ. The opposite is true for many Christians. We insist that people change and become like us before we take any real interest. That may be one of the reasons so few people come to the Lord and have their life transformed. But all this can change. How? When we prayerfully consider ways to become all things to all men so we can save some. That’s what Cowboy Church is all about. It’s a simple way of putting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a relatable “cowboy” package that can win people over. Does it win everybody? No, but nothing does. Does it have the potential to lead many thousands of people to Christ? Absolutely! Cowboy up and on, and ask God to use us lead people to Him.
Lord, help us connect with those You want to save, in Jesus’ name.
