"Cutter"

He spins and he turns,

And he dances and learns,

That the cow is what can’t get away.

From the herd he will cut,

Down the fence, no one but,

The equine will have the last say.

The cowboys who ride,

Hands down they’ll confide,

It’s about the blood deep in his veins.

But also the hours,

To discover the powers,

That come out when you drop down the reins.

Sometimes just unreal,

No doubt you can feel,

What happens in that old cuttin’ pen,

It’s something to see,

A performance set free,

And relished by all who have been.

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than a double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)

Just like a good cutting horse…I know, I know. It might be hard for you to get with me on this one. But truly a good cutting horse is a wonder to watch. But what is even more beautiful happens when God’s Word works in a person’s heart.. His word divides soul and spirit, which is a very important process. Unless the soul - mind, emotion, and will- are controlled by the Spirit we will go astray. The truth of God’s word sets our lives in order from the inside out so that we can live a life that glorifies God.

Lord, help us to embrace Your word, in Jesus’ name.
