"Deals"

Lots of deals,

Hell on wheels,

The pitch it feels,

Uneasy.

This world distracts,

And strong impacts,

We know the facts,

So sleazy.

Just like your ride,

The way you guide,

To keep your stride,

Takes focus.

And if your mind,

Is not aligned,

You sadly find,

The hocus-pocus.

Resist him firm,

And this you’ll learn,

You’ll end his term,

With power.

He will run,

‘Cause Christ, the One,

Will get it done,

This hour.

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you…” (James 4:7, NLT)

The book of James is full of very practical advice about obeying the Lord and living out our faith. It even describes how temptation occurs when our own desires entice us and drag us into sinful actions (1:14-15). And this description does not mention the devil at all. Yet later in his letter, James tells us to humble ourselves, submit to God, and resist the devil. it’s wrong to blame everything on satan. Lots of our problems come from within ourselves and our innate selfishness. That said, we are clearly in a spiritual battle and need to intentionally resist the devil. The promise is that he will run from us. I believe it.

Lord, help us to resist the devil and make him run, in Jesus’ name.
