"Deeper"

Underneath the burdens,

And underneath the pain,

Underneath the questions,

Time and time again.

Deeper than man’s wisdom,

Eternal in its scope,

The grace that has no limit,

And can alone give hope.

Because the things that happen,

Cannot be understood,

Especially the tragedy,

Unwise to think we could.

But there, free for the taking,

Is the grace Christ died to give,

It heals what is incurable,

And teaches us to live,

By faith in God who gives it,

We choose to put our trust,

In One who understands it,

And by His strength we must,

Learn to let the burdens go,

Along with how we feel,

And God has promised His own peace,

And the peace He gives is real.

I don’t have all the answers,

To hard questions you might ask,

But I believe He’ll help us,

And overcome at last,

All of our confusion,

And all that makes us sad,

He trades beauty for our ashes,

And His grace makes us glad.

So if you’re tired of struggling,

And are ready for a rest,

Come, bring your load to Jesus,

And put Him to the test.

Not saying this is magic,

Or an instant cure,

But I’ll tell you the healing,

He’ll give and that’s for sure.

All with heavy burdens,

Who stagger ‘neath the weight,

Jesus will relieve you,

Because His love is great.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest…” (Matthew 11:28, NLT)

Soul rest is what we need and only Jesus can give it. He promised relief for all who would come and release their burdens to Him. Note He did not say He would enable you to understand every heavy burden you carry. You might. You might not. But that is not the most important thing. What is? Giving that burden to Jesus! Receiving His peace and embracing His yoke is the key to experiencing both abundant and eternal life. Don’t let your your intellect get in the way. Follow what your heart is telling you to do.

Lord, relieve our burden and give us rest, in Jesus’ name.
