"Do It Now"

If there’s anything you think to do,

Before this Christmastime is through,

Don’t put it off I’m telling you,

Just maximize the day.

‘Cause life is short and soon is gone,

No one can say just how long,

So do it now, you won’t go wrong,

If you will make a way.

Write it, give it, say it now,

Try to get it done somehow,

A heartbeat means hope will allow,

It isn’t too late yet.

We know we can’t do everything,

But there is something we can bring,

Get off the bench and in the ring,

And God will help I bet.

“Be very careful, then, how you live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15, NIV)

Wisdom calls us to maximize every opportunity that comes our way. If evil was prevalent when Paul wrote this in the first century, it’s even stronger today. All the more reason for God’s people to be on time when it comes to doing what God calls us to do. Paul goes on to say that we can do this if we are continually filled with the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that keeps us attentive to the needs around us and energizes us to meet those needs. It’s God’s will that we’re after and the Spirit empowers us.

Lord, empower us to maximize the day, in Jesus’ name.
