"Don't Give Up"

Have you ever felt so tired and sick,

The trouble stacks and gets so thick,

Overwhelmed, can’t hit a lick,

Have you ever felt that tired and sick.

Have you ever thought all hope is gone,

You’ll never find your way back home,

And off God’s grid, so all alone,

Have you ever thought all hope is gone.

Was there a time you felt so low,

Had no idea which way to go,

Depressed and sad, the wrong way flow,

Was there a time you felt this low.

I ask these things ‘cause I can feel,

These things to me are very real,

Been there, done that, and that’s the deal,

I ask these things ‘cause I can feel.

So what to do, when you are there,

And wonder if someone still cares,

Don’t know all, but this I’ll share,

You ain’t through, when you are there.

First thing is to stop and pray,

Even with no words to say,

God invites, you’ll be okay,

If you will only stop and pray.

And when you do say how you feel,

Just be honest, transparent, real,

Leg go your burdens, that’s the deal,

Go on and say just how you feel.

Ask for help and for some peace,

If you let go, you’ll find release,

Ask for friends, just ask Him, please,

Ask for help and for some peace.

It’s time to stop this isolate,

Be proactive, do not wait,

Pick up the phone and set a date,

You’ve got t stop this isolate.

You will look back on this you know,

As a time you learned to grow,

And God came through, His grace to show,

You will look back, give thanks, and so,

Don’t give up, the valley low,

It may be sad, it may be slow,

But you’re not through, get up and go,

No, don’t give up, get up and go.

Oh, and one more thing, it’s good to know,

There’s someone else you need to show,

The comfort you’ve received, now sow,

Into their life, it’s good to know.

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others…” (2 Cor. 1:4, NLT)

If you’ve ever really been depressed, you know how seriously bad you can feel. I never understood depression until I had a heart attack five years ago. I recovered okay, but could not shake the blues. It was disconcerting, because I had never really let anything get me down. But this was different. I woke up and felt sad everyday, for no apparent reason. I needed help and got some, but things got pretty bad. Part of the answer for me was to talk to God about how I felt, and to ask Him to send people who could help me. All this to say, don’t fight this battle alone. There is help and you can find it. Don’t give up.

Lord, help us to find the help you want to give us, in Jesus’ name.
