"Don't Sweat It"
I know you’ve often heard it,
Don’t sweat the stuff that’s small,
And then you hear the second half,
They say what’s small means all.
And I get what they are sayin’,
To learn to live stress free,
But guess my only question,
Do they speak with accuracy.
No doubt we often worry,
‘Bout things we should let go,
Things we won’t remember,
But they still trouble so.
But life has it’s hard trouble,
And valleys deep and long,
To say it’s all just small stuff,
Seems to call it wrong.
The Bible says to trust the Lord,
With every single need,
We can move a mountain,
With faith a tiny seed.
So don’t you sweat the small stuff,
Advice that’s good for you,
And when you deal with big stuff,
Put that in God’s hands, too.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” (Proverbs 3:5, NIV)
It’s ancient wisdom: trust in the Lord with all your heart. Trusting God is not just an intellectual exercise. It involves how we think about things but goes deeper than that. It encompasses the deepest parts of who we are and how we feel. When you trust the Lord with all your heart, you are all in mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. From the depths of who you are you are choosing to put your trust in God. And make no mistake about it, it is a choice from start to finish. We choose to intentionally surrender everything about the situation to Him. We choose not to worry or be afraid. We choose to put the results in HIs hands and the timing and everything else about it. We choose to release to Him our burden. We surrender control, and receive the peace that only comes from putting it entirely in God’s hands. It’s the best possible thing we can do when we face challenges, no matter how small or large.
Lord, help us trust You with all our hearts, in Jesus’ name.
