"Faith"

What do you think will happen,

And is it only bad,

Or do you think of good things,

Based on what you’ve had.

Some only dread the future,

Their expectations low,

And only fear and worry,

Is what they feed and grow.

But wouldn’t it be better,

If we could find a way,

To lift anticipation,

Hope for a better day.

It’s not just being positive,

Or a smile upon your face,

But something that goes deeper,

It’s all about our faith.

I have a decision,

That impacts all I do,

Starts down on the inside,

It’s what I know is true.

And that’s about the Savior,

And how He cares for me,

And if I’ll learn to trust Him,

And what He says will be.

‘Cause He will have the last say,

And not this evil world,

But I must choose to follow,

And get faith’s flag unfurled.

I say He is my Savior,

I say He is my Lord,

I confess He’s in control,

I believe His Word.

And, yes, the worst could happen,

But even if it does,

My name is in the Lamb’s book,

And I am His because,

I put my faith in Jesus,

And He’s what makes me sure,

And nothing is impossible,

And bad times we’ll endure.

So, what do you think will happen,

Let’s trust God for His best,

Say no to fear and worry,

And by His Spirit rest.

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day…” (2 Corinthians 4:16, NLT)

Faith helps us see past the immediate to the eternal, and eternity is what matters most. Every earthly experience is designed to impact that future, and we do well to remember it. That’s not to trivialize the suffering people go through. Sometimes it’s an absolute nightmare. But, bottom line, it’s not the valley of the shadow of death that will prevail. No, in Jesus’ name. It’s the Kingdom dream and all that is coming that makes the difference. And the power of that future lies within us now. Outwardly dying, yes, but inwardly renewed every day. And the final day is coming. It changes everything.

Lord, renew us and keep us strong, in Jesus’ name.
