"Faithing"

It’s one way or the other,

You walk by faith or fear,

Either way you cannot see,

What’s coming, it’s not here.

But how you feel about it,

And what you think is true,

Will largely be the factor,

In what you say and do.

Will all the stress and worry,

Steal away your peace,

Or will you trust the Lord above,

And to Him the weight release?

Will you let depression,

Bog you to the ground,

Or will you pay attention,

To the truth that you have found?

That you don’t have to panic,

When anything goes wrong,

Instead you can speak to it,

You weakness will get strong.

And just like those before you,

You can make the mountain go,

A tiny little mustard seed,

Is all you have to show.

Faithing is not fearing,

And fear is faith reversed,

But when we have the shield of faith,

God’s Word will stop the curse.

We speak the truth He gives us,

We put our armor on,

We will not let the fear in,

The devil must get gone.

We have the choice, my brother,

And sister, so do you,

Will you live by faith or fear,

God’s Spirit sees us through.

“Don’t worry about anything…” (Phil. 4:6, NLT)

How is this even possible? Escaping worry is literally a supernatural transaction in which one perception of reality crowds out another. If my perception is fear-based, worry will become the habitual curse of my life. I will continually expect the worst to happen, and will find something to worry about even when things go well. If I do not worry, but instead trust God with what is happening, my perception is that the circumstances, though challenging, will work out in the end. That’s because we recognize that God is ultimately in control and He has our best interests at heart. He will take care of us and give us His peace. This perception is better because it is based upon truth, no just my opinion. But perceptions are real. so are you ready for the Lord to adjust yours?

Lord, deliver us from worry, in Jesus’ name.
