"Find a Way"
Find a way or make one,
They said it long ago,
And many in my circle,
Say cowboy up, let’s go!
And I admire that sentiment,
To make that old wheel turn,
Get out there and get ‘er done,
Don’t let that daylight burn.
My people knew they had to work,
Not up to someone else,
If it is to be it’s up to me,
Let tighten up our belts.
And I’ve found a way or made one,
For many years of try,
But here’s something that I have learned,
And it’s the truth, no lie.
And that’s sometimes you gotta wait,
For God to make a way,
And if you run ahead of Him,
You always have to pay,
More that what you want to,
When what I should have done,
Was let God open up the door,
Before I made my run.
Waiting isn’t lazy,
Or some entitlement,
But seeing if God’s timing,
Is really being sent.
And when you really know it’s time,
To ready, aim and shoot,
You’ll find you hit the target,
And have more peace to boot.
So find a way or make one,
But put it in God’s hands,
Wait on His direction,
‘Cause you can trust His plans.
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14, NIV)
I’ve always had the feeling that God was waiting on me. My attitude was do something, and if it was wrong, God would correct me. But sometimes waiting on the Lord means just that, waiting, and it is necessary if we want to hear and ultimately do God’s will. I’m not naturally very patient. But this is a part of the Spirit’s fruit, and though it may not be easy, it is crucial that we get it right. God knows what he wants us to do and when He wants us to do it. Being ready means we trust both His will and his timing.
Lord, teach us to wait on You, in Jesus’ name.
