"For All"
The shadow cast, from ancient past,
Determined love, eternal last,
And bound to grace, so strong and fast,
The Savior died for me.
The cross is where, I met Him there,
Nightmarish sight, my grief to bear,
And all my sin, and hurt and care,
He paid the price, you see.
My wayward soul, and truth be told,
For generations, satan’s hold,
His grip is broken, love so bold,
Came through to set me free.
Our value true, our why and who,
Was set by what He came to do,
Though sick with sin, He always knew,
Who we were meant to be.
What we know, with His help show,
And He will send, in His name go,
To share with all, both high and low,
That cross is still the key.
And Jesus said, His words I’ve read,
Take up your cross, and daily tread,
The Spirit lead your heart and head,
With all, this is our plea,
To see the cross, your gain His loss,
And what it means to count the cost,
Give Him your all, don’t miss the toss,
And live eternally.
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NLT)
It has been called the “scandal of particularity,” that the great Creator of the universe would concentrate His saving mission for all humankind into one moment of time in the world’s history, But that is exactly what He did. He sent His Son to be “God with skin on,” and to carry to the cross all that separates us from our heavenly Father. Every sin, hurt, sickness, depredation, depravity, and horror story loses its power there on the cross. He takes it all, and according to this scripture and others, pays the ultimate price so that all can be healed and pardoned. These are big thoughts, and impossible to totally understand. But the truth is simple enough for even a child to be saved. Let us not live as though this never happened. It is the best news of all.
Lord, help us revisit the cross and allow Your grace to change our lives, in Jesus’ name.
