"Getting Unstuck"

Getting unstuck is not about luck,

It’s something far deeper than that,

The Son of God died, ‘cause we may have tried,

But failed, and that’s where we’re at.

The grace that forgives, ever-present it lives,

To energize us to be free,

Pardon from sin, and then to begin,

To live without bondage, you see.

No matter the habit, or how bad the addict,

Every obsession can heal,

Full-out for the Lord, by the Spirit’s drawn sword,

With the Spirit of Christ, that’s the deal.

To still go unchanged, not have life rearranged,

Means we’re missing what God wants for us,

Not just to miss hell, but so we can tell,

That an everyday win is God’s plus.

“For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!” (Romans 5:10, NIV)

Accepting the death and resurrection of Jesus is necessary for our personal salvation. We are reconciled to God through the death of His Son. From being His enemies we become His children. But this is the beginning, not the end of the story. Paul says we are saved by the life of Jesus. He is referring to the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. By faith we are saved from the penalty of sin at conversion. But we are saved from the power of sin day by day. It’s accurate to say we have been saved, we are being saved, and one day we will be saved. That’s how we get unstuck. To think God separates one from the other is to misunderstand grace.

Lord, help us to be saved from the power of sin by Your life, in Jesus’ name.
