"Give Grace"

Sometimes I think I’ve lost my mind,

Confused about the things I find,

With people who are so unkind,

I find it hard to cope.

The cruel words they choose to say,

The harsh behavior day to day,

And for Christians, not okay,

Try not to lose your hope.

Pray for grace to heal the hurt,

By that same grace do not revert,

To bitterness, and be alert,

So satan has no place.

Forgive just like God forgave you,

Give the mercy, tried and true,

And turn the cheek, that’s what to do,

And lighten up your race.

Don’t let what the others do,

Steal your joy and take from you,

Abundant life and your breakthrough,

To overcome the pain.

It doesn’t matter, don’t you see,

The Holy Spirit helps to be,

Those who know how to live free,

And go in Jesus’ name.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other…” (Ephesians 4:31-32, NLT)

Being kind and forgiving toward others can be very challenging. This is because many times their words and behavior are very hurtful. If we are not careful, we will react from our wounds and inflict more harm. Never take revenge, the Bible says, but trust the Lord to be fair about it. And He always will be. This is because He knows everything and we don’t. We are called to forgive everybody, and get rid of our bitterness. But how? Only by God’s grace. If the grace is strong enough to save us, it’s strong enough to heal and empower us.

Lord, help us forgive others the way You have forgiven us, in Jesus’ name.
