"God Shows Up"

Hopes are dashed, and all is lost,

Prices paid and high the cost,

Expectations from us tossed,

And then the Lord shows up.

Has compassion, He is kind,

Helps us not to lose our mind,

There with peace that we can find,

And fills our empty cup.

Others said we cannot win,

The devil reminded us of sin,

We embarrassed all our kin,

And all our luck was bad.

Then God comes, it’s not too late,

Misery is not our fate,

Shows the way, throws wide the gate,

His presence makes us glad.

God shows up, it’s our surprise,

Brings the truth and drives out lies,

Helps our hearts to maximize,

The grace He died to give.

His presence is what we can feel,

And no doubt He’s near and real,

Fills us with His pow’r and zeal,

And shows us how to live.

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord…” (Acts 3:19-20, NLT)

Peter talked about times of refreshment brought by the Lord’s presence. It’s true the Lord is always with us, but when we respond to the Lord with willing hearts, something special happens. God shows up in surprising, life-changing ways to empower our lives. The Holy Spirit delivers God’s forgiveness, and the forgiveness flows through us to others. Life becomes a great adventure of the Spirit doing through us what we could never do. He breaks every addiction, heals every injury, relieves every burden, and forgives every transgression. It is abundant life indeed!

Lord, send us Your refreshing, in Jesus’ name.
