"Good Look"

I prolly shouldn’t say this,

Or even a-okay this,

So better not replay this,

Verse I share with you.

But when the lies are flagrant,

And the pile is really fragrant,

I’ll risk the label vagrant,

I’ve changed my mind, it’s true.

‘Cause the bad stuff in our nation,

As seen on every station,

Has made a noxious ration,

For all who have a mind.

And if you cannot see it,

I fear you soon will be it,

And let me now decree it,

You’d better search and find.

The truth that’s in the Good Book,

It’s best we take a good look,

The devil stole the good, took,

What we once thought was best.

Just go there, and get humble,

Before foundations crumble,

And we lose this old rumble,

And fall like all the rest.

God’s Word says it’s coming,

The devil’s drums are drumming,

And all his lies are dumbing,

To take the people down.

But we must fight the good fight,

‘Cause darkness runs from bright light,

We walk by faith and not sight,

God’s trumpet soon will sound.

“You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times…” (2 Timothy 3:1, NLT)

The old translation says “perilous” times. As we get closer to the return of the Lord, the darkness will get darker. It will be more challenging to live a godly life without persecution. Morals will erode and people will hate what is good. It is not a pretty picture. We should do all that we can to stem the tide of evil, but cursing the darkness is not the answer. The answer is to be the light and spread the light of God’s redemptive grace. We should wake up to what is happening, and live in God’s solutions everyday. Because we can make a difference, we should.

Lord, help us live faithfully through these difficult times, in Jesus’ name.
