"Habit"
They say success is hidden,
In what you do each day,
Hidden in that old routine,
The patterns and the way,
You go about your doing,
The habits that you do,
First you make the habit,
The habit then makes you.
And if we do the same things,
Over and o’er again,
And think that somehow later,
It’ll change from what it’s been.
We’ll find we are mistaken,
You plant that same old seed,
You’ll get the same old harvest,
No matter what you need.
We’ve always done it this way,
It’s how we’ve always done,
But if we don’t change something,
Change will never come.
It might not be a big thing,
Just redirect some time,
Find a brand new habit,
Ask God His light to shine.
Plant a brand new seedling,
Though it might be so small,
Great things have small beginnings,
And listen for God’s call.
Success is waiting for you,
It’s there, so find the way,
God backs righteous choices,
So let’s begin today.
“…You will always harvest what you plant…” (Galatians 6:7, NLT)
Choices are like seeds that contain the consequences of what is chosen. Someone has said you might be able to plant the number of seeds in an apple, but no one can count the number of apples in a seed. God wants us to see the connection between what we choose and the what results. We have all learned the hard way how bad choices bring ruin and destruction. Good choices bring life and blessing. God wants to help us discern the connection before we decide so that we can decide righteously. But what if you have a big bad harvest that you’re dealing with. Will God change it? Actually, no, but He will give you grace to deal with it and learn what you need for the future. It’s not about condemnation. It’s about reality and the power of forgiveness and redemption.
Lord, help us plant a new, righteous seed today, in Jesus’ name.
