"Homeland"

America my homeland,

Free ‘cause of the brave,

The sacrifice of patriots,

And grace the Good Lord gave.

One nation that stands under,

The God the Bible shows,

Rights from our Creator,

And the whole world knows,

The free-est place on earth to live,

With great prosperity,

The chance to raise your children,

With opportunity.

And, yes, she is divided,

And some believe she’s through,

But I believe the remnant,

Will call on God to do,

What He has done before, you see,

When His people cry and pray,

Humble down and seek His face,

Turn from their wicked way.

The great move of the Spirit,

He’s sent to other lands,

Can come to these United States,

If we meet His demands.

So if you follow Jesus,

And love our country, too,

Here is all that I suggest,

You might start to do.

Shut up in your closet,

Where only He can see,

And confess every sin to Him,

From that burden to be free.

Then ask the Lord of harvest,

To send you out with Him,

Filled with the Holy Spirit,

No more your vision diim.

Spread the word and sow the seeds,

And let Him flow through you,

You might just be a bit surprised,

By what the Lord will do.

Let us go and light the fire,

And pray God has His way,

Right here in the homeland,

Beginning now, today.

“and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14, NAS)

This promise was made to Solomon on the occasion of the completion of the temple. Some believe the promise was uniquely made to him and the people of Israel. But Paul tells us that every promise from God is offered to us through Jesus Christ. In any case, God will be pleased if His people humble themselves, pray, seek His face and repent. And if we do, we will be in a much better position to become agents of healing for our nation. Any way you cut it, this is a good idea and exactly what America needs.

Lord, help us to call upon You for our nation’s healing, in Jesus’ name.
