"Hope Habit"

Hope can be a habit,

Just like discouragement,

The devil loves depression,

Hope is heaven-sent.

But when you think about it,

Hope gives life its wings,

And helps us through the valley,

In trouble hope still sings.

That’s the reason that the Scriptures,

Speak so much of hope,

If you give up on living,

It throws a big life rope.

It says that God is loving,

Forgiving and He cares,

And there is new beginning,

When grace with you He shares.

God is our big future,

And Jesus, Savior KIng,

Whatever is your burden,

Trust Him with everything.

Choose to just be thankful,

Choose to walk by faith,

Choose to keep on going,

Trust Jesus with your fate.

And when the devil dogs you,

With discouragement and fear,

Just remember daily,

That Jesus Christ is near.

The devil cannot have you,

You’re safe in Jesus’ hand,

And He will give assurance,

For heaven’s promised land.

The Spirit is your witness,

And He’s your power, too,

And He lives within you,

Just see what He can do.

Hope when someone leaves you,

Hope when you are ill,

Hope when things are hopeless,

Hope, it is God’s will.

Don’t have all the answers,

But on this I am right,

Hope can be our habit,

When Jesus is our light.

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment…” (Rom. 5:5, NLT)

Why do people feel hopeless? May seem ludicrous to even ask the question because so much is going wrong in our world: covid, unemployment, racial tension, riots, violence, natural disasters, etc., etc. So, hopelessness is based on disappointment and the belief that the future holds nothing more. People become depressed, which is both emotional and chemical, and sometimes cannot bring themselves out of it. It’s not a bad idea to talk to a good counselor when things get that way. There may even be a prescription that can help. But ultimately disappointment must have an answer. And there is an answer: it’s the hope that is given by Jesus Christ. Jesus is the ultimate “silver bullet” to shoot disappointment in the face when it encroaches. Jesus is the ultimate hope-giver, and He will never, ever disappoint. That’s why it’s safe to put all your hope in HIm. Doing that intentionally can become a habit that brings deliverance. It’s awesome news for the hopeless. Get some!

Lord, fill our hearts with the hope that will never disappoint, in Jesus’ name.
