"House of Prayer"

Jesus said the Father’s house,

Should be a house of prayer,

Turned over those old tables,

Drove out the people there.

And often I have wondered,

How it was to see,

Jesus doing something,

To make what ought to be.

But bottom line the praying,

Is the heartbeat of the place,

When in intercession,

His people seek His face.

Somehow we have forgotten,

That at our fingertips,

Is the greatest invitation,

And straight from God’s own lips,

All who call upon Him,

Will find salvation free,

And all who have salvation,

Have full-time access, see.

And we can come and boldly,

To make known our request,

Knowing that in Jesus’ name,

The Lord will do the rest.

His word says He will do things,

Beyond what we imagine,

And if we pray believing,

His Spirit will take action.

So rise up all you warriors,

Your faith is now your shield,

Praying in the Spirit,

God’s victory you will feel.

And then the church empowered,

Becomes a house of prayer,

With miracles of healing,

And the Spirit everywhere.

“Now to Him who is able to immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” (Ephesians 3:20, NLT)

There are many great invitations and related promises concerning the prayers God calls us to pray. But here’s one of the greatest- He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Wow. That’s big, don’t you think. Do we really believe it and if so, how does that affect us when we pray? It should inspire and motivate us to pray and dream big, and not be afraid to do so. Maybe God says no. Maybe He says not yet. And maybe He’s waiting for someone to make the request so that our faith becomes a catalyst for life-changing miracles. Our faith does not give us everything we want, but unbelief prevents even the possibility. Make the request to the Lord. Trust Him to answer in His way and timing. But keep on praying, and never stop. That’s what the Lord loves to see.

Lord, teach us to pray, in Jesus’ name.
