"How Long?"
How long will good folks sit and fume,
About what used to be,
Grieving for their yesterdays,
And past morality.
The Good Book says the darkness rules,
And the closer that we get,
To Jesus Christ’s return to earth,
The worst we’ve not seen yet.
Stop cursing that old darkness,
It only makes you sick,
Focus on His present grace,
And pray He gets here quick.
And till He does rejoice a lot,
Just celebrate and praise,
And when you can reach out in love,
Our hands and heart to raise.
“The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12, NAS)
Jesus is coming again, but before He does, the darkness will get darker. We should not feel overwhelmed by it. Why? Because we wear the armor of light. This is our true identity in Jesus Christ. He clothes us both with the light of His presence and our God-given identity. When we live this way the darkness cannot bully us. We will not be intimidated or fall into despair because Jesus is Lord and one day all will confess Him as Lord. We live under His rule now until all acknowledge Him.
Lord, help us rejoice in spite of the darkness, in Jesus’ name.
