"Keep On"

The wind keeps on a-blowing,

The river keeps on flowing,

And life, it keeps on going,

Even when it seems,

That we’re too tired to do it,

When troubled we go through it,

Somehow we always knew it,

We saw it in our dreams.

But God has ways of speaking,

To every heart that’s seeking,

To ward off havoc’s wreaking,

When our hopes get thin.

He heals the broken-hearted.

Reveals the plan He’s charted,

His grace ne’er from us parted,

He knows the shape we’re in.

Across these pastures riding,

The cattle from me hiding,

But Christ in me abiding,

I know I’ll be all right.

And when the ride is ended,

Look back at life expended,

And know I was befriended,

By the One who gives me light.

Whatever pain we go through,

And whatever chore we must do,

The challenge won’t define you,

If to the Lord you run.

He uses all to help us,

Turns loss into a big plus,

Heals all of this life’s concuss,

Until the race is done.

“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us…” (Hebrews 12:1, NLT)

Running with endurance means that we keep on running. When you stop to think about it, every obstacle is designed to slow you down, and if possible, stop you. Running with endurance means we keep on going in spite of these challenges, learn to throw off any weights as we go, and keep looking to Jesus for help. Others ran and successfully finished the race. That doesn’t mean that they were successful every step of the way. In fact the opposite is true. But they found grace to keep on getting up when they fell, and continuing even when they were tired and it was painful. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Lord, help us run with endurance, in Jesus’ name.
