"Killer"

Some kill and don’t regret it,

They have a killer’s heart,

And if they perpetrate it,

A life can fall apart.

It’s not with lethal violence,

The death of which I speak,

It’s words said to each other,

That will our violence wreak.

The Book calls it correctly,

The power of death or life,

Can speak the greatest blessing,

Or cause the greatest strife.

And no one can control it,

Except the Lord above,

His Spirit gets hold of it,

And speaks the truth in love.

O Lord, You are the answer,

You say, Thou shalt not kill,

Purify our words, Lord,

And with Your Spirit fill.

“If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.” (James 1:26, NLT)
