"Music"
There’s a rhythm in the hoofbeats,
And a song upon the wind,
And if you listen for it,
It’ll blow your way again.
There’s a snappin’ in the tumbleweed,
A chasin’ ‘cross the plains,
And percussion in the water,
Every time it rains.
In the cattle call there’s music,
In the saddle creak a song,
In the brush the limbs are clapping,
And the spur will sing along.
And everyone should hear it,
But some are deaf, you see,
But they should never fear it,
'Cause it often holds the key,
To a whole new way of hearing,
If you have the ears to hear,
And I think He’d still say it,
If Jesus still were here.
It’s a simple tune and melody,
That warms you to the core,
Soothes the well-worn spirit,
And offers so much more.
Starting slow and quiet,
A crescendo as it goes,
Both outside and inside you,
It’s just how strong it flows.
And you know that it’s the Spirit,
That composes every song,
The music of creation,
And it tells us we belong,
To that great eternal chorus,
Of worship evermore,
And that’s just where it’s pointing,
Like it always has before.
“You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!” (Isaiah 55:12, NLT)
Life with the Lord should be characterized by joy and peace. These are produced by the presence of God’s Spirit, along with an environment of worship to the Creator. We have reduced worship to a religious exercise limited to a certain time and place, when it’s meant to be a whole lifestyle of unending celebration. The power of adoration happening in spite of every circumstance and adversity reflects the eternal reality of heaven. let us rehearse it until we get there.
Lord, teach us to live thankfully, in Jesus’ name.
