"Peace"
The stars above,
And moonlit night,
Show God’s great love,
And all’s all right.
The peace that wins,
The calm He gives,
It never ends,
It always lives.
Because the grace,
Bought at high price,
For life’s whole race,
It will suffice.
We will endure,
But more than this,
God’s joy is sure,
With life’s sweet kiss.
We count it joy,
When troubles come,
Though they annoy,
The battle’s won.
And we will go,
The Savior leads,
For this we know,
He meets our needs.
Come go with us,
And do not stay,
No fight, no fuss,
He is the way.
“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand…” (Phil. 4:7, NLT)
Someone has said that God’s peace does not mean the absence of turmoil or trouble, but inner calm in spite of it. How true. God promises peace to those who prayerfully seek and do His will. It’s not enough to have good intentions or even to try to have a positive attitude. Ultimately God gives us something we are unable to experience otherwise. When we do, outsiders notice. How can we be so calm? They wonder about it. Actually, so do we. But we find ourselves trusting Him to see us through. And not just barely, but abundantly. Life is not just meant to be endured. It is meant to be enjoyed. But that is only possible when we have God’s peace. And God’s peace comes only to those who surrender to Him. It might sound like a high price to pay, but all those who do say it’s totally worth it.
Lord, help us experience the peace that transcends all human understanding, in Jesus’ name.
