"People"

People come and go away,

It’s just the way life is,

They have their reasons, it’s okay,

But let me tell you this,

The reasons that they give you,

You may not really see,

Their worth or if they tell the truth,

It’s best to let it be.

And once they have departed,

And what you feel is grief,

And you are broken-hearted,

And looking for relief,

Remember there is Someone,

Who says He’ll never leave,

There’s power in what He’s done,

Brings comfort when we grieve.

He is the same forever,

His faithfulness is sure,

He will forsake us never,

His love always endures.

And yes, we love each other,

And need the human touch,

Our sister and our brother,

Appreciate so much.

But none compare to Jesus,

Who’s there, no matter what,

He’s for us and He sees us,

His grace is what we’ve got.

“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close…” (Psalm 27:10, NLT)

Being abandoned by someone, especially someone we love, can have devastating results. Our hurts can cause us to develop bitterness, and to wall ourselves off from others, even those who mean us no harm. But there is One who is incapable of abandoning His children. The Lord tells us time and time again in scripture that He will never leave us or forsake us. His promise is true and His words become an anchor of security, especially for those who have endured emotional injury. Forgive everyone, and turn to the Lord who never disappoints or lets us down. Resist the spirit of abandonment in Jesus’ name, and receive the comfort of the Spirit of adoption who lets us know we belong eternally to the Lord.

Lord, help us realize You will never abandon us, in Jesus’ name.
