"Ride Past"
I rode right past that critter,
But brother, I’m no quitter,
So back I went to get her,
And brought her home at last.
Away back in a thicket,
A place she hid to pick it,
With baby calf to lick it,
To gather her my task.
They say He went right past her,
But her sickness gassed her,
A long, lifetime disaster,
She reached out for a touch.
If only I can get through,
No telling what He will do,
With just the fringe a breakthrough,
She hoped from Him so much.
Who touched me was what He said,
So many people He’d fed,
But just this one a thin thread,
He felt the healing flow.
You see it was about faith,
Believing and you don’t wait,
To find the One. that can make,
Life better, this we know,
Like a cowboy who won’t give up,
On some old cow who’s hid up,
And sure the sale will bid up,
Once he gets her there.
Our value is the price paid,
His blood the sacrifice made,
And all our sins on Him laid,
The Good News we will share.
“When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of Him…” (Luke 8:47, NLT)
Hiding is what we do sometimes. Adam and Eve hid from God after they sinned. God came calling for them, as if He didn’t know where they were. But He did know. He knows all our hiding places. The woman who touched Jesus as He went past intended for her effort to go unnoticed. If i can only touch the hem of His garment I will be healed. When the healing power flowed from Jesus He knew that something had happened. He asked, “Who touched me?” But He was the Son of God. Didn’t He know who touched Him? I think it’s likely. She came forward and He explained that it was her faith that released the healing. Faith is like that. It brings us out of hiding to acknowledge what the Lord has done and wants to do in our lives.
Lord, help us to stop hiding and do what You ask, in Jesus’ name.
