"Right There"
There, right there, did you see it,
But I saw nothing there,
They pointed to the ceiling,
Of their intensive care.
They then described the angels,
So majestic and so strong,
They were seeing over,
To the other side’s belong.
Hear it, did you hear it,
The cowboy asked that day,
But I swear I didn’t hear a thing,
And then I heard him say,
I just heard a whisper,
It came upon the wind,
It was the Holy Spirit,
He said to come on in.
Feel it, can you feel it,
Not really, whatcha mean?
I feel the Lord’s own presence,
So holy and so clean.
As we sat there on our horses,
Beside the running stream,
I guess I did feel something,
Like a heaven-driven dream.
And even in the Bible,
There were people who,
Saw great things that happened,
And never really knew,
What it was they witnessed,
They couldn’t really see,
We think we’d do better,
But not sure that would be.
It’s up to us to sensitize,
Ourselves with ears to hear,
And eyes to see what He does,
And that He’s always near.
The miracle we wanted,
You might just see today,
But only if you’re looking,
It’s always been that way.
“Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand…” (Mark 4:23, NLT)
George Strait sings “I Saw God Today,” a song about recognizing God in ordinary moments of life. Powerful and true. In the Bible, some heard the voice of God speaking approving words over His Son, Jesus Christ. Others thought they heard thunder. Some saw miracles and praised God in relief. Others criticized what day the miracle happened because a lame man walked on the Sabbath. People who literally saw God part the Red Sea doubted His ability to help them conquer enemies in the Promised Land, and as a result, missed the opportunity entirely. And so it goes. Some see and believe. Others see and do not. Jesus recognized this reality and encouraged people to focus their attention. He knew how spiritually ADD we can become, and the need to be proactive listeners and attention payers. Distractions are rampant. Focus is needed.
Lord, help us to see everything You want us to see and hear everything You want us to hear, in Jesus’ name.
