"See It"
When we really started prayin’,
We had no real idea,
What the Good Lord had in mind,
You’d have to be a seer,
Or a prophet or a wise man,
To discern the plan He had,
I’ll say just for the record,
It was all good, nothing bad.
Oh, yes, the word was edgy,
It meant we had to change,
And our lives would be altered,
By His Spirit rearrange,
All I thought important,
And how I’d thought I’d spend,
The next few years of living,
And how my life would end.
You see, I thought my service,
Was pretty much all done,
I had tried and labored,
And could see the setting sun.
I’d ride off in the sunset,
Just like the cowboys do,
When the story’s over,
And when they are all through.
That’s what I envisioned,
To be way off the grid,
But that was not the Lord’s will,
He proved by what He did.
And when the dust had settled,
A new work had begun,
People came together,
To seek the Father’s Son.
They heard the Great Commandment,
And then began to love,
They claimed the Great Commission,
Instructions from above.
They then became Great Servants,
‘Cause Jesus said be great,
By laying down one’s life for all,
And never hesitate.
Especially with the least of these,
Those needing help the most,
With God’s great empowerment,
From His own Holy Ghost.
So rising from the ashes,
From all the used to be’s,
And what if’s and if onlies,
A new, refreshing breeze.
And now revival’s building,
And a movement cross the land,
Who would have thought a Cowboy Church,
Could be used by God’s hand.
And some old, worn-out cowboy,
Who thought his work was done,
But there were lots of people,
That were yet to be won.
And God has His own reasons,
I call it, blessings come,
And life is far from over,
From here we can see some.
“And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside…” (Ps. 71:9, NLT)
When is our service to God finished? Does He have a retirement plan? I say no. God is never through with us this side of heaven. As long as our hearts are beating, there is something for us to accomplish. No matter how many opportunities we have missed or time we may have wasted, it is never too late to be used by the Lord. And what He wants most is not our ability but rather our availability. When we offer ourselves without reservation to Him, it is then up to His plan and power to make it happen. The testimony of many is that just when they thought their time of usefulness was over, a whole, new season of service to the Lord began. And with it came great refreshing and power. No matter how old, we walk in the newness of life. There’s more. There always is.
Lord, help us become totally available to You, no matter our age or season of life, in Jesus’ name.
