"Taste"
I need to tell the story,
I got a taste of glory,
Saw it like ‘twas right before my eyes,
I saw the dying Savior,
Who looked on me with favor,
And told me He had heard my deepest cries.
The Spirit must have made it real,
‘Cause way down deep all I could feel,
Was that the Lord had given me my worth.
His shed blood, the price He paid,
Matchless love salvation made,
The way we get to heaven from this earth.
He hates the sin that makes us sick,
Will be there for us, thin and thick,
Loves us where we are to lead us out.
And what we know by faith will be,
All it takes to set us free,
It’s what amazing grace is all about.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good…” (Psalm 34:8, NLT)
When we are teaching our children to eat, they may become balky about certain foods. At our table my brother and sister and I were required to take at least a bite. Sometimes it worked out smoothly. The one bite let us know we liked the food, whatever it was. Sometimes, the one bite would almost make us gag. There are some things you just can’t force. But with the Lord only one taste and you will be hooked! Taste and see how good the Lord really is to us. Taste His forgiveness and tenderness. Taste His strength and faithfulness. Taste and see.
Lord, help us sample Your goodness, in Jesus’ name.
