"T.I.M.E."

The time we spend with people,

Tells us who we are,

If we make an investment,

Or stay distant and afar.

Love has a unique spelling,

It’s spelled T.I.M.E.,

‘Cause no doubt where you put it,

Shows who you grow to be.

The ones who truly help you,

Support and boundary,

Iron sharpens iron,

Have your back you see.

The ones who walk beside you,

You count them as your friends,

It’s giving and receiving,

And sharing common ends.

And some there are who need you,

They look to you for aid,

And you don’t want to fail them,

Leave when you should have stayed.

Its love that makes you do it,

Time given is the score,

And all we need to pray about,

Is should we give them more.

So time and love connected,

Love is the reason why,

And time shows if you mean it,

And if you really try.

“But if we love each other, God lives in us…” (1 John 4:12, NLT)

This is the real deal, and cannot be faked. Okay, maybe in the short run but not in the long. What and who we love becomes our life investment, and the number one currency of life is time. We give our time to what we love- work, hobby, relationship, etc. We find the time to spend for what or who we love. Not maybe every time but in an ultimate sense. God entered time to rescue us because He loved us. He gave His life in history to change the eternal destiny of humankind. The time/love connection is clear. And it’s clear that our love can be evaluated and measured the same way. Someone has said that if you’re looking for something wrong, follow the money. But if you want to find something good like love, follow the time. The time goes where the love goes.

Lord, help us to show our love for You and others by the way we invest our time, in Jesus’ name.
