"Turn the Page"

The young have the luxury,

To linger long and stay,

They feel life’s pain and still remain,

In sorrow endless days.

They think that life is longer,

Because it’s all they know,

Move on they ought, let’s not find fault,

Because they’re sad and slow.

Those who have grown older,

Get sad just like the young,

We’ve had more loss, and that’s because,

Of tragic songs we’ve sung.

But we lived long enough to learn,

That valleys we pass through,

We cannot stay, ‘cause there’s no way,

To have peace if we do.

It’s not that we are stoics,

Or deny the pain we feel,

But there is grace, to help us face,

What God will then reveal.

And it all comes down to knowing,

That each day is a gift,.

And without doubt we soon run out,

And if we do not lift,

Our hearts to our Creator,

And number all our days,

We’ll get bogged down and maybe drown,

In the grief that comes our way.

The Lord God is the only One,

Who helps us to make sense,

Of all the pain, He keeps us sane,

Our heart and mind’s defense.

And if you’ve lived life long enough,

And humbly seek to find,

He’ll always be, the One you see,

Who won’t leave you behind.

But says come on and follow,

Though cares still weigh you down,

You are not done, and He’s the One,

To help you till you’ve found,

The grace that changes everything,

No matter time or age,

It’s strong embrace will set the pace,

And help us turn the page.

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others…” (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT)

When, not if, we go through troubles we have this promise. God will comfort us. What does this mean exactly? It doesn’t mean we are shielded from every challenge. It doesn’t mean we won’t feel heart-break or experience tragedy. It doesn’t mean that we deny how we feel in order to cope. It does mean that God will be with us and help us to feel better. He will relieve our burdens and give us peace. He will remind us that He is in control and works in all thing for His glory and our good. He will then empower and energize us to share the comfort we have received. Others are going through similar things. We can help them because God has helped us.

Lord, help us share the comfort You have given us, in Jesus’ name.
