"Voice"

There is a voice I need to hear,

It calls me from above,

It tells me that I need not fear,

It is the voice of love.

Men’s loud, chaotic voices,

So full of pride and greed,

Bombarding me with choices,

That never meet my need,

And that’s to know the Savior,

Who laid down His own life,

To show all God’s favor,

And save from sin and strife.

And when the fire encroaches,

Smoke makes it hard to see,

His Spirit still approaches,

To rescue you and me.

Listen, do not miss the call,

To know Him is to live,

The lost, the lonely, down they fall,

But salvation will He give.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27, NAS)

One of the distinctives of becoming a child of God is that we hear the voice of the Shepherd. How we hear Him is subjective, but the fact that we hear Him is non-negotiable. He says He will call us by name and we will not recognize the voice of another. It’s part of His ownership of our lives, and the more we cooperate with His leadership the clearer His voice will be. Listen for it.

Lord, help us hear Your voice clearly and follow You faithfully, in Jesus’ name.
