"We Can"

It’s just a little farther,

Farther than we’ve been,

But we believe we’ll get there,

And right on time is when.

The reason we can say it,

And claim it to be true,

Is all because we’re walking,

By faith in what He’ll do.

And do we know the details,

Not really, only part,

And could we prophesy it,

You bet, right from the heart.

But all that God has promised,

And all His Word can be,

The Spirit makes alive to us,

But if and only we,

Trust Him to provide it,

To deliver on the dream,

We see by faith and say it,

It’s real but it’s unseen.

It’s just the same as seeing,

A colt that’s had a start,

But you see him as finished,

And not because you’re smart,

But because you’ve had one,

A project over time,

And now you can expect it,

It will turn out just fine.

You can see the harvest,

When it is just a seed,

You might even be weeping,

From overwhelming need.

But you’ve also seen joy’s harvest,

So it’s not reckless to,

Believe the seed produces,

Crops will come to you.

We stand when others falter,

We pray when others doubt,

We always keep on going,

His grace has brought us out.

And all the things we’ve suffered,

And all that we’ve been through,

Has schooled us in the Spirit,

For the next steps we will do.

The faith that keeps us riding,

When others got bucked off,

Is not because we’re better,

Or trying to land soft.

But simply ‘cause we get up,

By faith hold Jesus’ hand,

He says He will help us,

And lets us know we can.

“That is why we never give up…” (2 Cor. 4:16, NLT)

Why don’t we give up? Others have. They do it all the time. Why don’t we? There is only one reason, and that’s because we view life’s troubles differently from others. For us, each challenge is an opportunity to trust God and learn something. Do we get tired and even exhausted? Absolutely. Are we tempted at times to throw in the towel? Sure. But the thing that keeps us going lies not in the resolution of issues in our circumstances. Rather, we keep on because what happens in us is bigger and more powerful than what happens to us. We see past the immediate to a future where God’s will reigns supremely. We confess His Lordship over every problem now, and believe the eternal trumps the temporal every time. We believe.

Lord, help us stay focused, keep on going, and never give up, in Jesus’ name.
