"Weather"

The blowing wind and some extremes,

Weather changes quick it seems,

In Texas, land of all my dreams,

But it gets cold out here.

But then the summer’s dry and hot,

And if outside you sweat a lot,

Thank God a good AC we’ve got,

I want to make things clear,

That I am not complaining, y’all,

Thou shalt not whine is what I call,

Won’t let it steal my joy at all,

In all things to give praise.

‘Cause every place that people live,

Storms and wind we over-live,

Mother Nature to forgive,

God’s banner we will raise.

And if you’re bored with this forecast,

You can be certain it won’t last,

It all can change and very fast,

In Texas’ heart so deep.

Variety gives life its spice,

In one week had four seasons twice,

Though some of us must pay the price,

Our Texas home to keep.

“Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the waves, and suddenly there was great calm…” (Mt. 8:26, NLT)

Most of us have heard this story of how Jesus rebuked the weather and it calmed down. If you live where the weather is extreme, or changes quickly, you know how wonderful it is when the storm ends. But life is full of extreme weather, and we really need some help with it. Jesus helps in one of two ways. He makes the storm come to a halt. I love it when Jesus does that. Everything changes and we are relieved. The other way He helps is He doesn’t remove the storm, but He gives us great peace in spite of it. Either way, we get what we need.

Lord, calm our storms, one way or the other, in Jesus’ name.
