'Wild Ones"

I’ve known a bunch of horseback boys,

As rough as they could be,

Bad to drink, so wild I think,

Say hold my beer, you’ll see.

I’ve seen ‘em party all  night long,

Then horseback go to work,

Just got it done, after their fun,

‘Cause they refuse to shirk,

Their duties and what they should do,

Even though in pain,

Hangovers real, but here’s the deal,

They’ll work in shine or rain.

I’ve seen ‘em fight each other,

And rowdy make a mess,

And then go back, take up the slack,

And still be friends the best.

And I’ve seen the wildest ones,

Come to know the Lord,

Turn to Him and from their sin,

Now use the Spirit’s sword.

But they still are cowboys,

Will laugh ‘bout where they’ve been,

But thankful they, have found the way,

And live their lives for Him.

So when you see a cowboy,

Still crazy, out there loose,

Pray a prayer, and show you care,

That before long He will choose,

To turn to Christ, the Savior,

And live for Him alone,

The best hands do, I’m telling you,

The Lord makes His love known.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

This is one of the most optimistic verses in the Bible. In fact, it points out that when a person surrenders their life to Christ they become a new person. Their old life is left behind. Amazing, when you stop to think about it. Why? Because of where some of us have been, that’s why! Why? Because of what others who knew us thought would happen to us, that’s why! We could go on and on, but the drift is clear. Against all odds and opinions, every person who gives their life to Christ makes a new beginning and the control of the old life is broken. This doesn’t mean that Christians don’t sin. We know better. But it does mean we are moving in a whole new direction and in a whole new relationship with our Creator. Because of Jesus, the Creator has become our Dad and the Spirit of our Father lives within us!

Lord, let the power of the new life flow through us, in Jesus’ name.
