"Wisdom"

There it flew!  There it went!  There it goes!

Dad’s voice still points, I suppose,

To what he saw, what he learned, what he knew,

Shared his wisdom so I’d learn it, too.

The young laugh and play, think the old,

Can’t help them so they won’t be told,

But later wish they were more wise,

Missed truth ‘cause of years old disguise.

Then they wrinkle up, stiffen, age, too,

And think they will share things they knew,

To the young folks that they used to be,

And help them some wisdom to see.

There it flies!  There it sings!  There it speaks!

Wisdom learned through life’s valleys and peaks,

But the young running fast cannot hear,

To them life’s full speed and high gear.

So the cycle of life’s patterns go,

It’s a wonder if one comes to know,

The wisdom the old want to pass,

Before the wind withers life like the grass.

Get the wisdom, God says it will be,

What you need for your life to be free,

Whether you learn it the hard way or not,

God’s wisdom will help you a lot.

There it goes…

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere…” (James 3:17, NIV)

The Good Book emphasizes the importance of seeking and receiving God-given wisdom. Wisdom changes our lives when we apply the truth to our day to day decisions and behavior. The world bombards us with demonic wisdom, but James is careful to describe the beauty of God’s wisdom. It ultimately equips us to treat others in such a way that we consistently sow seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

Lord, help us to receive and share Your wisdom, in Jesus’ name.
