"Why?"

Why do people suffer so,

And then sometimes they die,

No matter how much prayer is said,

Or tears fall from the eye.

Why do selfish people thrive,

And often get their way,

While those much more deserving,

Go without and pay.

Why do children get abused,

By those whose lust and greed,

Blind them to the innocence,

Of what our young ones need.

These and many questions,

Often fill my thoughts,

And the list grows longer,

My ought nots and my oughts.

It ought to be different,

It ought not be this way,

No doubt it is the devil,

And people he will sway.

I know the only answer,

Is we’re not in heaven yet,

And the wrong won’t be made right,

Until the day that’s set,

To see the Lord return as judge,

To set up His own reign,

Until then we walk by faith,

In spite of this world’s pain.

Every knee will bow one day,

Every tongue confess,

And every tear He’ll wipe away,

When God cleans up this mess.

Until then the whys remain,

But they are in His hands,

And the Good Lord works in everything,

According to His plans.

“The creation waits in eager anticipation for the sons of God to be revealed…” (Romans 8:19, NIV)

That day will come when the sons of God will be revealed. On that day all of creation will be freed from the curse brought about by sin. Every enemy will submit to the Lordship of Jesus, and destruction, disease and death will be removed forever. Every wrong will be righted and every tear will be wiped away. Until then we must walk by faith and live in anticipation of God’s future reign.

Lord, help us to trust You now and forever, in Jesus’ name.
