"A Thousand Hills"

I’m sittin’ here and wondering,

Just when the rain will fall,

When the grass will grow again,

And we’ll buy no hay at all.

I’m thinkin’ if they’re healthy,

Which should I keep or sell,

Or if the prices go so low,

It will be hard to tell.

I’m thinkin’ ‘bout the bills we pay,

And gettin’ clear of debt,

It’s takin’ longer than I thought,

But I won’t give up yet.

And when the fence is hard to fix,

And horses come untamed,

I think of days gone by when I,

Felt like a horse that’s lamed,

By life amongst the people,

In a town without much space,

A runnin’ hard for all the things,

I thought were worth the race.

But thinking that I did not fit,

With all they do in town,

And now that I’ve escaped it,

And really look around,

This is sure where I belong,

The Lord sent me this way,

And though the work is sometimes hard,

I know we’ll be okay.

A thousand hills of stock You own,

That’s how the Good Book reads,

Guess if You provide for them,

You’ll take care of our needs.

All the cattle, all the pasture,

And all us people, too,

No matter what, we give You praise,

For everything You do.

“For all the animals of the forest are Mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.” (Psalm 50:10, NLT)

If the Lord owns the cattle on a thousand hills and provides for them, He will provide for our needs as well. Paul tells us that the God who takes care of him, will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Jesus said to look at the birds and the flowers and God’s care of them, and trust the heavenly Father to provide. We know it’s true, but when we’re going through difficulty, it’s a good thing to remember.

Lord, help us trust You to supply all our needs, in Jesus’ name.
