"At the Barn"

It was corn bread and beans, and top hand leans,

Against those timbers strong,

That ancient barn where cowboy yarns,

Were told for decades long.

But on that night with dim moonlight,

We gathered with those men,

They spoke what’s true I’m telling you,

Of victory over sin.

Spurs on boots with cowboy roots,

And listening young and old,

To someone say God is the way,

To come in from the cold.

The oldest, Wes, who at his best,

Ninety if a day,

And little boys, without a noise,

Sat there with Dads okay.

And when I left, the weight and heft,

Of heavy burdens gone,

These horseback men, felt like my kin,

I’ll pass their truth along.

For where two or three come together in My name, that am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20, NIV)

There’s power in coming together in Jesus’ name. This means we are gathering under the authority of the name of Jesus and for the express purpose of bringing Him glory. We connect with each other because we know He has called us into relationship and spiritual partnership. He is always with us, but He is with us in special ways when we make this connection. Two or three is the fundamental cell of the body of Christ.

Lord, help us gather, in Jesus’ name.
