"Blessed Flex"

A flying wreck, oh, what the heck,

Puts stress on that last nerve,

But get in line, ‘cause every time,

Life throws another curve,

The grace comes through, it’s always true,

Just gotta find your grip,

And pray you’ll see, what needs to be,

Your part before you slip,

Into what was, you know because,

That old stuff’s still in you,

I could react, with quite a smack,

But not what I should do.

Blessed flex, and inspired text,

Applied by Spirit strong,

The Good Lord knows, and head to toes,

He helps us not go wrong.

“…throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes…” (Ephesians 4:22-23, NLT)

The old way we used to react to people and situations needs to change. This is obvious to most of us. Anger was a problem, as well as what we said when we got mad. Being impatient, uptight, unkind, and frustrated is not the way to be. But we were, and we still can be. So what to do about it? We learn to make quality choices, and if possible, ahead of the actual situations that challenge us. Ahead of time, we intentionally choose against selfish reactions, and ask God’s help in responding new ways with new attitudes and words. Habits die hard, but they can be changed. And once we become more flexible, that becomes a habit. too. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Lord, teach us flexibility, in Jesus’ name.
