"Blind Boys"

One blind man sat by the road,

And just made so much noise,

That Jesus stopped and healed him,

Just one of those blind boys.

Another fellow could not see,

Christ touched and spit his eye,

He saw men as trees walking,

A second touch healed the guy.

Jesus helped another man,

Who was blind right from his birth,

Made some mud with his spit,

You might ask why on earth.

But when he washed away the mud,

His eyes could clearly see,

The glory of the Lord was shown,

And always it will be,

That when the Good Lord heals you,

And you are given back your sight,

It’s so you’ll always serve Him,

And walk clear in the light.

No matter how He does it,

With one touch or with two

,Or even makes a mud pack,

Just shows what God can do.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me,

I once was lost but now I’m found,

Was blind but now I see.

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe…” (Ephesians 1:18-19, NIV)

What a beautiful notion! Paul prays that the eyes of their hearts will be enlightened. He is praying that they will see something that they perhaps have never really seen before. He prays they will know the hope God is giving them, and they’ll understand God’s inheritance and power. These are things that can only be understood through God’s revelation. The good news is that our God self-discloses faithfully. He invites us to see, enables us to see, and empowers our spiritual vision. There is nothing like it!

Lord, enlighten the eyes of our hearts, in Jesus’ name.
