"Saddle with the Savior"
In the saddle of a morning,
With the light of day brand new,
The breezes gently blowing,
And the sky a brilliant blue.
I think, though not a rich man,
I have all that I need,
With blessings of great beauty,
And sights my soul to feed.
And nothing could be finer,
Than to gaily horseback go,
Lopin’ to a far horizon,
Splashed with sunlight all aglow.
It’s carefree and it’s simple,
Far from people and their noise,
With creation and Creator,
And a thousand of His joys.
And the troubles and the problems,
Of this world they fade away,
Promising that heaven,
Will be like this someday.
It’s good to live life cowboy,
And good to be horseback,
It’s good to be a son of God,
Without a single lack.
Thankful for the dawning,
And for a day well-spent,
In the saddle with the Savior,
And the blessings He has sent.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV)
Here is a snapshot of the Christian lifestyle. It’s joyful, made so by the Holy Spirit and our choice. It’s prayerful, because we never experience anything in this life that is not improved by a consistent conversation with God. It’s thankful, because the blessings of God abound, and even at its worst, life always holds something for which to be thankful. Great moments and memories make it even more abundant, but there is not doubt that there is a lot of heaven on the way to heaven.
Lord, fill us with Your joy, in Jesus’ name.
