"Bright, New Day"
A bright, new day, you hear ‘em say,
But that’s not how you feel.
More like, oh no, another go,
Depression is unreal.
You hate to be, that way you see,
But it’s a heavy weight,
You’d like to say, it’s all okay,
So far from feeling great.
Can I tell you, what I’ve learned to do,
When everything seems bad.
I cast my care, on God who’s there,
His grace is what I’ve had.
Sometimes a pill, it helps, it will,
And counseling to find,
But none can beat, a good retreat,
The Lord our wounds will bind.
Joy can be found, so hear the sound,
Of words I know are true,
Our burdens lift, the Spirit sift,
The next thing we should do.
And as they say, just live today,
Tomorrow is not here,
Your history, has passed you see,
This moment we hold dear.
Come sun or rain, come joy or pain,
The Lord is with us now,
And by His grace, we’ll run life’s race,
And He will show us how.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you…” (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
When we’re burdened with care and worry, it’s very important to remember how much God cares for us. The temptation is to try and handle things ourselves. I’m not advocating passivity when it comes to tackling our problems. But the most proactive thing we can do is run to the Lord with the things that burden and bother us. He already knows, of course. But that’s not the point. The point is to go to Him and intentionally surrender the situation, the people, the possibilities, and the attached emotions to Him. Putting it in His hands positions us to receive the grace He has promised to supply for every need. And it is by His grace we can learn to conquer adversity and depression. His grace trumps it all.
Lord, help us cast our cares on You, in Jesus’ name.
