"Christmas Eve Eve"

It’s Christmas Eve Eve,

And for those who believe,

It’s the night we make ready our hearts.

For the night that’s before,

When God opened the door,

As the players made ready their parts.

The hands in the field,

Would soon hear and yield,

To the angels’ announcement they heard.

Magi on the way,

Had no notion that they,

Would soon see in flesh the Lord’s Word.

Inside Mary’s womb,

All ready to bloom,

The Son of God soon to be born.

Just two days to go,

How much did they know,

‘Bout when he’d arrive Christmas morn.

Thank God for the birth,

Bringing Him to this earth,

Just now on the eve of the eve,

We’ll take a short pause,

For certain because,

We know in two days we’ll receive,

Fresh Christmas joys,

For all girls and boys,

The Savior will give us His peace.

To men of good will,

Who love Jesus still,

On Christmas Eve Eve, life’s new lease.

“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No,’ but in Him it has always been ‘Yes.’” (2 Corinthians 1:19, NIV)

Some people believe that what God has always said is “no” to them. “Thou shalt nots” dominate their thinking, and for that reason they either fear, ignore, or outrightly reject a relationship with Him. Even some Christians struggle with this notion. And it is true that God has said no to some things. But the point is that God’s word to us through Jesus Christ is a resounding ‘Yes’! He says no to the things that make us sick and kill us, but He always is saying yes to us. That’s because he loves us and invites s to have a close friendship with Him. Bethlehem was about God’s yes. So is Calvary and so is the empty tomb.

Lord, help us to hear Your "Yes,” in Jesus’ name.
