"The Lord Knew"

The Lord knew when, that He’d sneek in,

The Prince was born at last,

For those who prayed, God’s promise stayed,

Their faith in ages past.

Expectant they, and God would say,

This is the Son I sent,

Christ was God’s yes, to fight distress,

His grace was not misspent.

Down to today, we sing and say,

Our hallelujahs bring,

The Prince of peace, captives release,

All praise to Christ the King.

It’s Christmas time, lights brightly shine,

It’s time to celebrate,

We praise His name, we aren’t the same,

And we can hardly wait,

For that time when, He comes again,

And every knee will bow,

All tongues confess, He is the best,

We gladly worship now.

“So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:4-7 NIV)

Such a simple story! An unknown couple in a small town that had no room for them, yet God’s promise was fulfilled. Everything for all time and eternity was at stake, and it all hung by very thin threads, but God’s plan went forward. He was determined to save the world, to save all of us. But the way He chose to do it, in the midst of human frailty and happen-chance is truly amazing. His love continues, and will prevail. One day all will bow to Him. Jesus is Lord.

Lord, we welcome the joy of Your coming, in Jesus’ name.
