"Cold"

Weatherman says it’s coming,

The cold is setting in,

In the teens on Thursday,

And says a lot of wind.

I’ve often heard the folks complain,

As Christmas time gets near,

That really it’s not cold enough,

I want to make it clear,

It’s when the weather’s warmer,

Than what it’s supposed to be,

And they can’t get in the spirit,

Of the holidays, you see.

And where we live it doesn’t snow,

‘Cept a few times in mid-winter,

And when it does, we shut things down,

‘Cause people’s nerves all splinter.

But back to that complaining,

‘Bout things being too warm,

You never hear a rancher,

Wish for another storm,

Of windy blast or icy days,

Or snow or real bad weather,

‘Cause he’s outside with cow and horse,

To do his work whatever.

The weather changes as it will,

We depend upon the Spirit,

To give us all the joy and peace,

And help us to get with it.

Balmy days or frigid cold,

In it all give praise,

Celebrate each season,

Keep a thankful heart always.

“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!” (Luke 1:46, NLT)

After learning that she was to be the mother of the promised Messiah, Mary went to see her relative, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was also pregnant, carrying the baby who would become John the Baptist, the last Old Testament prophet. Elizabeth said that the baby leaped within her when she heard Mary’s greeting. She was fill with the Holy Spirit and said that Mary was blessed because she believed. Then Mary praised the Lord, and her words became what we now call the “Magnigicat.” Praise is all about what we magnify. What will we make large this season? We are called to magnify the Lord.

Lord, help us rejoice in You this season, in Jesus’ name.
